In this series, which began in the early 1990s, I use the isometric format to describe space because these drawings are more about thoughts and ideas than portraying space accurately. They usually begin with an object around which the walls are built, and then the rooms are filled in. As the process unfolds, a sense of play takes over, guided by a set of established rules (walls of a certain height, consistent angles, scale). As the drawing progresses, these rules are surgically dismantled, allowing new ideas and images to take shape.
